King Kamehameha conquered the Hawaiian Islands and formally established the Kingdom of Hawai'i in 1810.  Statues of the King can be found throughout Hawai'i, and his name can be seen on schools, roads, and buildings all over the Islands.  There is even a Kamehameha Day celebrated every June 11.
