The Grateful Dead was an American rock band formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, California, known equally for their eclectic style and improvisational live performances as their influence in the counter culture movement of the 1960's. A dedicated group of fans know as deadheads religiously followed the bands near constant touring over the years. In the summer of 1969 they were supposed to do a series of shows at the Honolulu International Center coinciding with the release of their album Aoxomoxoa but the event was canceled. Renowned graphic artist Rick Griffin designed the posters for these concerts and only a handful were ever printed.
