Few bands have had as long and winding road as the aptly named, Journey. Formed in 1973 in San Fransisco, California, Journey has over 40 years of music and touring under its belt with the band releasing 14 albums using 15 different band members over its life. Although best known for their work with Steve Perry's powerful voice leading the way, Perry actually did not even join the band until 1977. Journey's history with Hawaii goes back almost to their beginning where the second stop of their first tour was the Diamond Head Crater Festival in early 1974. The Crater festival was Hawaii's equivalent to Woodstock with many national and local acts playing the music festival held in the crater of Diamond Head. Journey would later return to Hawaii for concerts at the Blaisdell Arena on December 21st and 22nd of 1981 on their Escape World Tour. Escape launched Journey to international fame with hit songs like, "Open Arms", "Who's Cryin' now" and "Don't Stop Believin".
