Stubbies

Stubbies Clothing began in 1939 as a manufacturer of men’s and boys' apparel in Australia, but it was the introduction of the iconic Stubbies shorts in 1972 that made the brand a household name. Known for their style, affordability, and durability, over 750,000 pairs were sold in the first year alone. By 1978, the company had officially changed its name to Stubbies Clothing Co. Stubbies became synonymous with surf culture in the late 1970s and early 1980s, sponsoring trial events in California, Hawaii, and Florida for the Stubbies Surf Classic. The name, legend says, came from a tired salesman craving a cold beer, and it stuck! Explore our collection that celebrates the legacy of Stubbies.
