It was one of the first original mass produced skateboards and people loved it! Business boomed as they sold in toy stores nationwide. Although they were marketed to kids as a toy, the plastic wheels and metal ball bearings made it a dangerous toy. The NASH Heat Zone skateboard had a completely plastic truck and axle, and the NASH Tenderfoot Wood Skateboard had steel wheels. Ouch if that runs over a toe! Frank Nasworthy's solution led to skateboarding becoming a legitimate competition sport. In 1970, Nasworthy introduced the urethane wheel providing a smoother, faster ride and a more maneuverable skateboard. NASH continued thriving in the skateboard manufacturing business. Although a fire in 2006 destroyed the manufacturing facility, the spirit of skateboarding cultivated by NASH Skateboards lives on in the world of skating and skate competition today.
